On Saturday April 16th of the year 2016, an Earthquake of 7.8 struck Ecuador and altered the lives of many. In the weeks that followed the catastrophe, a group of friends launched a voluntary project that intended to provide shelter for the people who ended up living on the streets.

One hundred days later, our team completed the first housing model called "Casa OE" and has developed the Technical Manual for the house in order to spread the "OE Project". We belief that the OE Project is a viable solution to the problem of fast housing construction that is experienced particularly in times of emergency. The OE Project aims to provide people with a safe, technically studied, cost effective, and environmentally friendly house.

As a result of the Earthquake, the amount of destruction that is seen on the Coast of Ecuador speaks about a country that is not prepared for natural disasters. However, it becomes an opportunity to provide people in our country with secure places to live where, when faced with these type of catastrophes, are able to experience the least possible impact to their wellbeing.

More than 1 million people were affected by the earthquake, 28.775 people lost their houses and were forced to seek shelter, 6.274 people were injured and 671 people were killed.
